On February 7, 2014 the bill was passed ON CONCESSION MATTERS OF SPANISH NATIONALITY TO SEPHARDICS WHO CAN JUSTIFY SUCH CONDITION AND THEIR SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH SPAIN AND BY WHICH ARTICLE 23 OF THE CIVIL CODE IS AMENDED and will be effective the day after its official publication.

On June 6th, the dual citizenship for Sephardics was approved.

(KNOWN BEFORE BILL ON GRANTING OF SPANISH CITIZENSHIP TO SEPHARDIM ORIGINATING IN SPAIN AS SUPPORTING AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS TO BE BOUND BY SPAIN, BY WHICH ARTICLE 23 OF THE CIVIL CODE AMENDING AND BY WHICH PROCEDURE FOR REGULATING THE ACQUISITION OF SPANISH NATIONALITY BY RESIDENCE )

The president of the Spanish Senate reports that, as provided for in Article 90 of the Constitution, shall be forwarded to the amendments adopted by the Senate to the House of Representatives for a ruling on them in the form prior to the enactment of the final text SM the king."

Update, October 9th 2015

The Law which grants citizenship to Sephardic came into force last October 1th 2015.

The final law has a new procedure regarding how to apply citizenship in Spain.

What is your opinion about the Law, Ms Bojorge?  I think it is different ...Totally different with many documents and cross-borders situations.

It is not the Nationality Department which will be studying  your application.

If you do not understand spanish, it is requested some level of spanish. Do not be afraid, because it is a basic level and once you learn spanish you may enjoy it!

-Dual Citizenship is allowed.
-Timing to apply:  from October 2015 to 0ctober 2018. Good news, this law has an extension of 12 months. Marla
